It's been a while since our last Spotlight! post and I'm happy to re-introduce the series with the beautiful and talented Magalie Delaleu Foster. Magalie is a daughter of Haiti, a wife, a mother and a descendent of a line of Haitian and French artists. She is carrying on the tradition of her forefathers as a visual artist, a skill she inherited and has honed since childhood. Magalie says that she really devoted herself to her art, which she sells through her website www.BlackEyePeaCreations.com after her marriage and the birth of her child and is proud to carry on her family's traditions of making art and crafting delicious culinary creations as well. Here's what she had to tell me about her journey:

Who is Magalie Foster?
Many have said that I am a superwoman, very talented and gifted because of the many, many talents I have aside from the arts.

What prompted you to begin creating artwork?
Art has always been and will always be in my family, Haitian descent many of us are known to be artist , I began since I was a youngster back home in Haiti.

Do you have any upcoming events or new avenues you'll be venturing into?
I will be hosting my first gallery show in Washington, DC in August this year, [the] dates [are] not yet confirmed, and [I'm] trying to branch out as much as I can all over the United States, God willing.

What is your biggest dream or aspiration? What would you do if money was no concern?
My biggest dream, really, is to continue being blessed by the inspiration that many have brought me and to continue to bless all with my talent and bring joy and positivity and beauty to all through my art. [I] dont need much just appreciation and love for what I do. If money was of no concern, it would... go where it's most needed, like Haiti right now.

What's the most important piece of advice you can offer to Ase Ire's readers?
[My] most important piece of advice is this: to be able, at any moment, to sacrifice what we are for what we could become.

'Funlayo and Ase Ire thank Magalie for sharing her time and talent! Be sure to visit her site www.blackeyepeacreations.com.
