Odu Reflection: The Blessings Will Come!

Posted by 'Funlayo on Sunday, November 29, 2009, In : Reflection

With Thanksgiving just behind us and the end of the year approaching, I and many people around the country and the world are reflecting on the past year and taking inventory of our blessings. With all this gratitude and good tidings abounding, I was reminded of a quote that seems quite incongruous with those feelings:

"Over generosity is often met with crass ingratitude"

This is a refrain from the odù Ifá Ogunda-Obara, which I recently reviewed with my Master-Teacher Awo Ifakunle....

Cherish Today!

I was looking through the children’s books in the City College bookstore the other day. I’m a big kid at heart, and I also have a beautiful niece and nephew who I love to buy books for. Coming Over the PhD Application Mountain

Posted by 'Funlayo on Thursday, November 5, 2009, In : Information

Blessed greetings to all of you! I trust you’ve been staying busy in my absence – I pray you’ve been staying positive as well. I have been “on my grind” recently; I hope you’ve taken the time to catch up on all the posts you may have missed.

They say that anything that is worth having takes a good deal of work and I am certainly finding that to be true especially as I go through the process of applying to PhD programs. If any of you are thinking of applying, know that it i...
