Blessed Greetings! Summer is right around the corner and I can’t wait for some fun in the sun! Few things make me happier than boarding a plane, train, bus, car – whatever! – and hitting the road. Whether it’s a trip across the ocean or to another part of the state, I can pack a bag in 30 minutes flat and be ready to go go go! Travel, particularly air travel, can be a real pain if you don’t have the right things. Here are my top 5 must-haves for travel:

5. Travel Pillow
Those flat little excuses for pillows the airlines try to give you are a joke - especially on a long flight. I like to bring a neck pillow and a small square pillow for my back. It can be a little bulky but so worth it! These are a must for bus rides. I have one similar to this, and I like it because it snaps closed so it won’t fall if you shift.

4. Compression/Support Socks
This sounds so old lady-like, but these babies are a must for long flights or bus rides. Slip them on and they’ll keep your feet warm on a cold plane or bus and they will also help protect you from foot swelling and some studies have shown that they can help prevent deep vein thrombosis. I know, that doesn’t sound nice at all, and it isn’t. Get some inexpensive ones here.

3. Healthy Snacks
The only thing worse than being forced to eat greasy, gross fast-food is being forced to pay triple the normal price for it! Do yourself a favor and bring some nice healthy snacks with you, like these LaraBars (they’re RAW, gluten free, all natural and delicious! The cashew cookie is my fave!). You’ll be glad you did when you see the price of those in airport and onboard snacks! Now, if you pass by a Cinnabon… you have my blessing to eat one, you have to treat yourself every now and then *smile*

2. Music
Absolute must!  Music helps me relax and also helps drown out abrasive engine noises. If you’re on the bus or on a plane with wireless, try Pandora internet radio – it’s the only radio I listen to. They even have a free iPhone/iPod Touch app!

1. LUSH Products
Oh LUSH, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: one, the products are hand made, overwhelmingly natural, preservative-free and made from fair trade ingredients; two, they come “naked” without extraneous packing material; three, and best of all, everything from shampoo, to facial cleanser and toner, to body butter comes in a SOLID form so you don’t have to worry about those pesky liquid restrictions at the airport. This is great is you're trying to get away with just a carry-on. Love!
